February Rudolph Day

It's time for the second Rudolph Day of the year and another cross stitch Christmas card (cross stitch cards are my theme this year).  A neighbour has recently gifted me several bags of cross stitch items and this cute chart was in one of the bags. I stitched this design last week when we were away in our campervan on a 'family visit' and have just made it into a card.

To make this card I used:

     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Kraftie Kits 'Christmas Teddy' cross stitch chart
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' die
     White 14 count aida
     DMC threads
     Snippet of white hammer card

After stitching the design I mounted the fabric behind a stitched square aperture that had been die cut in the centre of the card blank.  I then added a piece of white card to cover the back of the stitching.

Use Your Initials

I made this card for the Seize the Birthday 'Use Your Initials' challenge - my initials are KMB so I have used K for kraft card, M for marbled paper and B for Blue & Butterfly.

To make this card I used:
     C6 kraft card blank
Memory Box 'Grand Happy Birthday' and 'Kaleidoscope Butterfly' dies
Snippets of kraft card, blue marbled paper and blue corrugated card

I trimmed the marbled paper and attached it to the card blank leaving a narrow border around the edge.  I die cut the sentiment from kraft card, trimmed the sides and attached it along the lower edge of the card.  I die cut the sentiment again from a snippet of blue corrugated card - although the die cutting flattened the corrugated card it did leave a lovely textured design on the letters.  These letters were then inlaid into the card.  To finish I die cut a butterfly from kraft card and attached it to the top corner.

White on White Joy

I always find 'White on White' challenging, but decided to make a Christmas card for this week's Christmas Card Throwdown.

To make this card I used:
     7" x 5" white matt card blank
Creative Expressions 'Festive Collection - Joy', All Occasion Dies 'Small Poinsettia' and Memory Box 'Mini Holly Leaves' dies
     Xcut 'Swirls' embossing folder
     Snippets of white matt card

I embossed a piece of white card, trimmed around the edges and attached it to the front of the card. .  I die cut the poinsettia and holly berries from snippets of white card, before embossing the poinsettias.  The poinsettias were layered with the holly berries attached to the centre.  I die cut 'JOY' twice from white card, embossed the 'J' and 'Y' before layering them so they would be more prominent in the centre of the embossed panel.  I placed the letters and flower onto the card to ensure they were evenly spaced before gluing them into place.

Teal and Gold Birthday

I made this quick birthday card for a friend who dislikes 'fussy' cards and used the colours from the AAA Cards 'Teal and Gold' challenge.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
     Crafts-Too 'Happy Birthday' die
     Funky Fossil 'Zen Mandala' stencil
     Versafine Deep Lagoon ink
     Snippet of gold mirri card

I used the Deep Lagoon ink to stencil the Zen Mandala in the centre of the card blank.  I die cut 'Happy Birthday' from gold mirri card and attached it to the centre using Artist Tac.  Quick and simple!

Cross Stitch 90 Birthday Card

I made this card for one of my neighbours to celebrate her 90th birthday.  She used to do a lot of cross stitch herself (and is the person who has recently gifted me several bags of cross stitch items) so I thought a cross stitch card would be appropriate.

To make this card I used:
Needlepoise Occasion Card 'Pink General' cross stitch kit

This lovely card making kit included everything to make a greetings card, including a tri fold card and envelope.  The chart included several different greetings, but I chose to add a '90' and used a scrap of graph paper to chart the numbers and then see where to place them in the centre of the design.  I used the darkest green thread to stitch the numbers and then outlined them in the same colour.  After completing the stitching I mounted it behind the aperture of the card blank and then folded the flap to cover the back of the stitching.

Cross Stitch Anemones

This card is another design from Carolyn's Garden by Serendipity Designs.  I love the flowers on this card and it's also been one of my favourite designs to stitch too.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Carolyn's Garden 'Anemone' cross stitch kit
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' die
     Snippet of white hammer card

After stitching the flowers I mounted the fabric behind a die cut stitched aperture.  I then added a piece of white card on the inside of the card blank to cover the back of the stitching.

Big Birthday Wishes

I managed to get a bit of crafting time this afternoon, so made this quick card for a friend's birthday using lots of snippets.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
My Favorite Things 'Big Birthday Wishes' die
Snippets of white matt card, kraft card, white paper and pink patterned paper

I trimmed a snippet of white card to 6" x 4" and die cut the sentiment from the centre before attaching it to the card blank.  I cut two narrow strips of kraft card and attached them down each side.  The pink paper was layered onto a snippet of white paper so it was the same thickness as the die cut letters in the front of the panel.  After die cutting 'BIG' I inlaid the letters into the panel and then used some tiny snippets of kraft card to cut the rest of the sentiment and inlaid the letters.

Cross Stitch Poppy

For various reasons, I've not had much time for paper crafting but I've found time in an evening to do some cross stitch and have made some cards.

I enjoy stitching floral designs and these Carolyn's Garden cross stitch kits from Serendipity Design are lovely to stitch.  This is one of my favourites as I love poppies.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' die
Carolyn's Garden 'Poppy' cross stitch kit
     Snippet of white hammer card

After completing the stitching I mounted it behind a stitched square aperture that had been die cut in the front of the card blank.  A piece of the same card was attached to the inside of the card to cover the back of the stitching.

Cross Stitch Pansy Card

A neighbour recently gifted me a lot of cross stitch items as she no longer stitches and this lovely Penelope cross stitch kit was amongst them.

To make this card I used:
     4" x 4" white hammer card blank
Penelope Mementos 'Pansy' cross stitch kit
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics' die
     Snippet of white hammer card

After stitching the design I mounted it behind an aperture that had been die cut with a stitched circle die.  I placed another piece of white card on the inside to cover the back of the stitching.

Cross Stitch Mille Fleurs

This design is another charity shop find - this is Mille Fleur from the Textile Heritage Collection.  The design should have been stitched on 18hpi fabric to attach to the front of a gift card but the combination of dark fabric and small stitch count was too much for my eyes to I stitched it onto 14hpi aida to make a card.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" cream hammer card blank
Textile Heritage Collection 'Mille Fleurs' cross stitch kit
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' die
     Snippet of cream hammer card

After completing the stitching I attached it behind a stitched square aperture that had been die cut into the front of  the card blank.  A piece of the same card was attached inside to cover the back of the stitching.
