Santa's Secrets

The current Winter Wonderland challenge is 'For a Child' and this topper reminded me of my visits to Father Christmas when I was a child!   As everything is from my snippets drawer, I'm also paying my first visit to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white silk
Other: Crafters Companion Spray and Sparkle - Pearl Diamond
Snippets: Paper and card

I layered grey snowflake paper onto red mirri card and attached it to the card front.   A strip of red greetings paper was layered onto red mirri and attached across the card front.  The topper was sprayed with the Spray and Sparkle to give it a glitter finish before it was layered onto red mirri and attached to the card front with foam tape.

Rose Bunch Birthday

I made this card for a friend's birthday and am going to enter it into the current Seize the Birthday 'Anything Goes' challenge.  The paper, card and ribbon are from my snippets drawer so I'm paying my first visit to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white hammer
Stamp: Hobby Art 'Happy Birthday'
Die: Wild Rose Studio 'Rose Bunch'
Punch: Woodware squared corner
Ink: Versafine Imperial Purple
Snippets: Card, paper and ribbon

I used the corner punch on a square of white card, layered it onto pink/purple paper and attached it to the card front.  The rose bunch was die cut from green card and attached at an angle,  I cut the flowers from pink/purple paper and attached them on top of the green die cut.  To finish, I stamped the sentiment directly onto the front of the card and attached a pink bow.

To Your Wishes!

I made 12 Christmas cards last month, so time to start making this month's cards.   This card was made for the current 52 Christmas Card Throwdown which is to 'Pick a Previous Sketch' and I used the sketch from April 2013.  I'm also entering this month's Christmas Cards All Year Round challenge which is 'Red and White'.   The paper and card are from my snippets drawer, so I'm off to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop,

Card blank: 6" x 6" white silk
Stamp: Penny Black 'To Your Wishes!'
Punch: Woodware Crafty Edger and 'Ribbon Border' cassette
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Colouring: Promarkers
Other: Wink of Stella, Stampendous 'Cotton Ball White' fun flock, red nailheads
Snippets: Red mirri card, white silk card and paper

I used the Ribbon Border cassette on the long edge of a piece of red mirri card and trimmed it to fit the left side of the card blank.  A snippet of red patterned paper was layered onto the mirri and this was then attached to the card.   The image was stamped onto white card and coloured with Promarkers.  This was trimmed, layered onto red mirri card and attached to the card following the sketch.  Three red nailheads were attached under the image.   To finish, I added a Wink of Stella to the champagne and belt and fun flock to the hat.

Have a Wonderful Day

I made this card for a friend's birthday and will enter it into the current Seize the Birthday 'Anything Goes' challenge.   I'm also entering this week's Winter Wonderland challenge which is 'Lots of Layers'.

Card blank: 7" x 7" kraft
Stamps: Woodware Bubble Bloom 'Judith' (front) and 'Most Wonderful Birthday' (inside card)
Dies: Spellbinders Nestablilites Classic Ovals Small and Lacey Ovals
Punch: Woodware Crafty Edger 'Japanese Fan'
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia
Other: Wink of Stella
Snippets: Paper and kraft card

I attached the patterned paper to the card front and cut the flowers from another piece of the same paper to decoupage the bright flowers.   The sentiment was stamped onto a snippet of cream paper, die-cut and layered onto a kraft card die cut before being attached to the card front with foam pads.  I used Wink of Stella on the sentiment.

As the card blank is kraft card, I cut a piece of plain paper for the inside, used the Crafty Edger on the lower edge, before stamping my sentiment and attaching it to the inside of the card.

B is for Bows, Bunting or Baking

The current ABC Christmas Challenge is to use 'Bows, Bunting or Baking'.  I've chosen the Bows option to make this Christmas card using more snippets as part of my thrifty crafting year, so I'm paying another visit to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white silk
Colouring: Promarkers
Snippets: Topper, paper, card and ribbon

I coloured a couple of small pieces of white ribbon with a purple Promarker.  The lilac snowflake paper was layered onto purple mirri card and I wrapped one piece of the ribbon around it before attaching it to the left side of the card.   The snowman topper was layered onto purple mirri card and attached to the front of the card with foam pads.   Another piece of ribbon was tied into a small bow and attached to the front of the card.

Celebrate in Style

I always struggle to make cards for men, but thought this week's sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches would be perfect.   It's also a good sketch to use a few of the strips of paper in my snippets drawer, so I'm also paying my first visit to Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white hammer
Stamp: Woodware 'Bubble Bloom Clarissa'
Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four
Embossing: Kars tan embossing mat
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx
Snippets: White hammered card and papers

I trimmed three strips of paper and, following the sketch, attached them to the card .  The sentiment was stamped onto white card, die cut and embossed around the edge.  I drew around the same die onto black card to cut a mat to fit behind the sentiment, this was then attached to the card with foam pads.

January Rudolph Day

I was over the moon when ScrappyMo invited me to be one of her Guest Designers for the January Rudolph Day.

Rudolph Day runs from the 25 to 31 January and the theme is 'Anything Goes as long as it's Christmas'.  The winner will be chosen by random draw on 1 February and this month the prize is a fabulous Memory Box die - so make sure you join in the fun!

My Rulolph Day cards are quick and simple as they are usually the ones that I make in batches and this card is no exception.

Card blank: 6" x 4" white silk
Stamps: Magenta 'Floral Holiday Trio' and Woodware 'Snow is Falling'
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Colouring: Promarkers
Card: Red mirri and white silk card
Other: Wink of Stella

I stamped the image onto white card and coloured it with Promarkers.   This was then trimmed to size, layered onto red mirri card and attached to the card blank.  The sentiment was stamped directly onto the front of the card.  To finish, I outlined the the image with Wink of Stella.

Merry Monday Houses

The current Merry Mondays challenge is 'Houses'.  I was struggling to find a house until I found this paper in my snippets drawer - it had been an A4 sheet and I'd used rest of the paper but had tucked this away 'to be used one day'.  As the paper, vellum and gems are from my snippets drawer I'm paying another visit to Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white silk
Sentiment:  Hot off the Press (magazine freebie)
Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four
Punch: Woodware snowflake punch
Card: Grey mirri
Other: Wink of Stella
Snippets: Paper, vellum and gems

I layered the house paper onto grey mirri card and attached it to the card front.  The sentiment was stamped onto a snippet of snowflake paper and die cut.  I drew around the same die onto grey mirri to cut a mat to fit behind the sentiment, this was then attached to the card with foam pads.   I punched two snowflakes from white vellum and attached them to the sentiment, before adding a Wink of Stella and a grey gem to the centre of each snowflake.  To finish I added a Wink of Stella to the tree and foliage around the house.

Christmas Bells

The January theme at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown is 'Bells' and I've made this card using an upcycled Christmas decoration that I bought and then didn't like on the tree!

Card blank: 5" x 5" white silk
Image:  Upcycled cross stitch 'Christmas Bells'
Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Circles Large and Classic Scalloped Circles Large
Embossing: Crafts-Too 'Twinkle' folder and Kars tan embossing mat
Card: Red mirri card

I embossed white card, layered it onto red mirri and attached it to the card front.  Using the circles and scalloped circles dies I cut a frame for the Christmas bells and embossed the edges.   I attached the cross stitch to the rear of the frame and covered the back with another circle of white card before attaching it to the card front with foam tape.

Let your dreams take flight

I made this is a quick card for the current Colour Me 'Striking' challenge which is to use Blue, Red and Neutral.   As the card was from my snippets drawer, I'm also paying my first visit of the week to Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 4" white silk
Stamp: Hot off the Press 'Feathers' (magazine freebie)
Die: Hot off the Press Feathers (magazine freebie)
Ink: Versafine Magestic Blue
Other: Wink of Stella
Snippets: Blue, red and white card

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of white card.  This was layered onto red card and attached to the card front.   I die cut two feathers - one was attached directly onto the card and the other was attached with foam tape to give some dimension.  I used Wink of Stella on the sentiment and along the spine of the feathers.
