Happy Mother's Day

I made this card for Steve's mother for Mother's Day, using a kit that had been a cover gift with a magazine.

After stitching the design I used two stitched circle dies and a snippet of gold textured card to make a frame.  I trimmed around the edge of the stitching and applied dots of acrylic glue to fasten it to the back of the frame before attaching it to the centre of the card blank.

March Rudolph Day

It's time for another Rudolph Day card and another card using a magazine cover gift, which is my theme this year.  This Creative Dies die was a cover gift with a Practical Publishing magazine several years ago (I first started using it in 2018) although I can't recall the title of the magazine.

I die cut the woodland scene from white matt card and placed the image in my MISTI so I could line up and stamp the sentiment along the lower edge.  The panel was then layered onto a snippet of blue paper.  I die cut and embossed a square in dark blue card and layered the scene onto it before attaching it to the card blank.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing - Creative Dies 'Woodland Scene'  and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares Large' dies
Woodware 'Delightful Dangles - Christmas Tree' sentiment stamp
     Versafine Majestic Blue ink
Snippets of dark blue card, white matt card and blue paper

Christmas Tree and Presents

This is another card made with an upcycled image from one of the Christmas cards I received last year and was a super quick card to make.

I found a snippet of brown and gold striped paper and attached it to the front of the card leaving a small border around the edge.  The Christmas tree had been on the front of a pop-up card, so the top section was already fussy cut.  I removed it from the card and fussy cut the lower section around the presents before attaching it to the front of the card with foam tape.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
     Upcycled Christmas card
Snippet of brown and gold stripe paper

Cross Stitch Violets

I've recently bought a number of these small floral Textile Heritage designs and this is the first I've made.  I love stitching flowers and enjoyed stitching this design,  although I was glad it wasn't a large design as it was stitched on 18 hpi aida.   After finishing the stitching I mounted in the tri-fold aperture card that was in the kit.

18th Big Birthday Wishes

I love this MFT die as it's perfect for quick cards and a great way to use snippets too - this card is for Steve's nephew's 18th birthday.

I die cut the sentiment from a kraft card, trimmed it so there was a border down each side and attached it to the front of the card.  I cut strips of cream hammer card and attached those on both sides of the panel.  I glued a snippet of marbled paper to a snippet of thin card so it was the same thickness as the kraft panel and die cut 'BIG' from the paper before inlaying it into the card.  The rest of the sentiment was die cut from more snippets of cream hammer card and inlaid into the panel.  I die cut three stars (one medium and two small) from the marbled paper and '18' from kraft card.  The numbers were attached to the larger star before the stars were attached to the card with foam pads.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" kraft card blank
My Favorite Things 'Big Birthday Wishes', Memory Box 'Classic Numbers' and Xcut 'Nesting Star' dies
Snippets of kraft card, cream hammer card, thin white card and blue and cream marbled paper

Happy Holidays

I was looking through my drawer of cards to upcycle and came across a card with this cute Santa Claus - perfect for this weeks Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge.

I trimmed a piece of red mirri so it was slightly smaller than the card blank.  The blue scene paper was a little too big so I trimmed the left side and bottom so it was slightly smaller than the mirri layer.  I placed the paper into my MISTI and stamped the sentiment in the lower corner with red ink before embossing it with clear embossing powder.  I layered the paper onto the mirri and attached it to the card.  Santa was already fussy cut as he had been attached with a foam pad to the original Christmas card.  The paper also had some trees on the left side, so I positioned Santa so he covered the trees and looked like he was walking down the hill.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white matt card blank
     Upcycled Christmas card
     Versafine Satin Red ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail Embossing Powder
Paper Discovery paper (from a Papercraft Society Box)
     Snippet of red mirri card

There's No-one in the World

I saw this large die in a sale and bought it for £1.00 - it's not often I find a bargain!

I cut a piece of white card slightly smaller than the card blank and die cut the globe from the centre before attaching the panel to the card blank.  I die cut the globe from dark red pearlescent card, embossed it whilst it was still in the die and then inlaid it into the front of the card.  I die cut the words in the centre of the globe from gold pearlescent card and inlaid them.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Xcut 'There's No One in the World' die
Snippets of white matt card, red and gold pearlescent card

Our Wedding Sampler

As today is our Pearl Wedding Anniversary, I thought I would share the wedding sampler I made for us.  The sampler is no longer displayed as our tastes have changed over the years, but I can't bear to part with it as it took me ages to stitch.

Hello

I made this card to send to Gundi for the February Card Chain Challenge.  I used the Colour Option (Aubergine, Crushed Rose & Coffee Cream), the Sketch Option and the Theme Options (Hearts & Friendship).

I attached a piece of cream patterned paper to the front of the card blank, leaving a border around the edge before attaching a strip of burgundy paper (the nearest I had to aubergine) down the left side.  I die cut three hearts from snippets of pink and cream patterned paper and followed the sketch to attach them to the card.  The largest was glued to the card and the smaller hearts were attached with foam tape.  I die cut 'hello' from another snippet of burgundy paper and attached it to the lower edge of the card.  To finish I added dark red enamel dots to the hearts.

To make this card I used:
     7" x 5" white matt card blank
Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Hearts' and Altenew 'Simply Hello' dies
Snippets of Lili of the Valley 'Heartfelt' and 49th and Market 'Vintage Artistry in Blush' papers
     Dark red metal nailhead stickers
