Butterfly and Lace

The current Butterfly Challenge is 'L for Lace' and as I found this lace at the bottom of my snippet drawer so I'm also in the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 7" x 7" kraft
Die: Memory Box 'Pippi Butterfly'
Card: Pink matt
Paper: Craftwork Cards 'Botanica' (magazine freebie)
Other: Wink of Stella
Snippets: Lace and green ribbon

I threaded the thin green ribbon through the lace and, as the lace was only a snippet, I cut my paper slightly smaller than the ribbon to allow it to wrap around the sides.  The paper was layered onto pink card before I wrapped the lace around the bottom section and then attached to the card front.   I die-cut a butterfly from pink card and attached it to the lower corner of the card.   To finish, I applied a Wink of Stella on the butterfly and the centre of the pink flower.

April Rudolph Day

It's time for the April Rudolph Day challenge.   As usual, my Rudolph Day cards are quick and simple and this card is no exception as I'm using a pre-coloured Lili of the Valley topper.   The card has sparkle, glitter and stars so I'm also entering the current Winter Wonderland challenge which is 'Twinkle, twinkle'.

Card blank: 5" x 5" red hammer
Image: Lili of the Valley 'Christmas Star' pre-coloured topper
Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacy Squares
Card: Gold mirri
Other: Diamond Stickles, Stampendous White Fun Flock, Wink of Stella

I layered the topper onto a lacy die-cut square and attached it to the card blank.  I added Fun Flock to the trim on the girl's coat, Stickles to the snowflakes and snow and a Wink of Stella to the stars.

Christmas Cat

The current Merry Monday challenge is to 'Use a Cat or Dog'   I didn't think I would have anything suitable until I found this cute pre-coloured Lili of the Valley topper and some matching paper in my snippets drawer, so I'm off to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white silk
Image: Lili of the Valley 'Christmas Kids' pre-coloured topper
Stamp: Woodware 'Snow is Falling'
Punch: Woodware corner rounder
Ink: Versafine Crimson Red
Other: Vintage Berries Gold card candi, Wink of Stella
Snippets: Red mirri card, red/green holly paper

I layered the paper onto red mirri card and attached it to the card front.   I trimmed red mirri card slightly larger than the topper and rounded the corners.   The topper was layered onto the mirri and attached to the card front.  I stamped the sentiment onto white card, this was trimmed, layered onto red mirri card and attached to the card front.  Card candi was attached to the bottom corner and I used a Wink of Stella on the holly leaves on both the topper and backing paper.

I attached three red gems to the corner of the cad and outlined the rose and sentiment with a Wink of Stella.

Happy Christmas Stitch Up

A friend made a lovely stitched card which went into my upcycling box - perfect for me to use for this super quick card for the current Winter Wonderland 'It's a Stitch Up' challenge and the current ABC Christmas Challenge which is 'H for Happy Holiday/Happy Christmas'.

Card blank: 5" x 5" dark red hammer
Card: Gold mirri
Other: Upcycled stitched card, gold peel-off

I trimmed the stitched card, layered it onto gold mirri and attached it to the card front.  To finish, I added a gold peel-off greeting.  Quick and simple for me - a lot more work for my friend!

Vintage Christmas

This week's Merry Monday challenge is 'Let's Get Vintage'.   Trying to find something vintage was a challenge in itself, but I found this topper in my snippets drawer which had originally come from 'Making Cards Traditional Christmas' magazine.  I'm also paying a visit to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 4" silk
Die:  Memory Box 'Simple Buckles'
Card: Gold mirri
Other: Wink of Stella
Snippets: Red paper, topper, green ribbon

I die-cut a buckle from gold mirri and threaded it onto green ribbon.  The red paper was layered onto gold mirri card and the ribbon attached to the right side before it was attached to the card front.   I layered the topper onto gold mirri before attaching it to the card front.  To finish, I added a Wink of Stella to the bells, holly and mistletoe on the topper.

Christmas Angel

The current Merry Monday challenge is 'Angels or Cherubs'.  I've upcycled this cute angel from one of the Christmas cards I received last year.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white hammer
Card: Gold mirri and white hammer
Other:  Upcycled card, Wink of Stella, peel-off sentiment and stars

I layered a square of white hammered card onto gold mirri and attached it to the card front.   The angel image was trimmed to size so it would fit in the lower corner of the card, this was then attached with foam tape.  I added the 'Noel' peel-off before finishing the card with a Wink of Stella on the angel's dress and wings.

Since uploading the card to the Merry Monday challenge, I've bought some gold star peel-offs and added them to the card which I think adds the finishing touch.

M is for Music Notes

When Mrs A invited me to be her guest designer on the Butterfly Challenge I was over the moon - so I chose the letter 'M'!   Mrs A says that M is for 'Music Notes' so I have used the fabulous IndigoBlu 'Sheet Music' stamp on my card.

Card blank: 6" x 6" white silk
Stamps: IndigoBlu 'Sheet Music' and Woodware 'Bubble Bloom Judith'
Die: Butterfly (magazine freebie)
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia
Paper: Wild Rose Studio 'Butterfly Garden'
Card: Gold Moondust

I stamped the sheet music onto flower paper, layered it onto gold Moondust card and attached it to another sheet of flower paper - ensuring that the pattern matched.   I trimmed the paper to size, layered it onto gold card and attached it to the card blank.  The sentiment was stamped onto flower paper, trimmed to size, layered onto gold card and attached with foam pads - again ensuring that the pattern matched.   To finish, I die-cut a butterfly and attached it to the front of the card.

I look forward to visiting everyone's blogs to see how you have interpreted 'M for Music Notes'.

Monochromatic Green Tree

The current CAS Colours and Sketches challenge is 'Monochromatic Green' and I've used one of my favourite Christmas stamps to make this card.

Card blank: 7" x 5" white silk
Stamps: Woodware 'Christmas Bubble Tree'
Embossing: Clear embossing powder
Ink: Versafine Olympia Green
Colouring: Faber-Castell colour grip pencils
Card: Dark green and white
Paper: Snippet of dark green paper
Other: Glossy Accents, Triple Thick gloss glaze

I stamped and embossed the tree and sentiment onto white card, this was trimmed to size, layered onto green card and attached to the card blank.   I stamped the trunk onto a snippet of green paper, cut it out and applied gloss glaze.   When dry, this was attached to the card.  I coloured the baubles with various shades of green and then added Glossy Accents.

Patchwork Christmas

As soon as I saw the sketch at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown I thought it would be a great way to use up some snippets, so I'm hopping over to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.   I'm also entering this month's Sparkles Christmas Challenge which is 'Use kraft card'.

Card blank: 7" x 7" kraft
Die: Snowflake (magazine freebie)
Card: Kraft
Other: Hemptique Bakers Twine
Snippets: Papers

I cut a square of kraft card slightly smaller than the card blank and, following the sketch, attached various papers leaving a small gap between each paper.   I wrapped bakers twine around the card, tied it into a bow and then attached it to the card blank with foam tape.  I die-cut a snowflake and attached it under the bow with a few dots of tacky glue.

Merry Monday Christmas

The current colour  challenge at Merry Monday is to use 'Lime, Turquoise and White' - not colours I would normally use for Christmas cards.  I found some card in my snippets drawer, so am also paying a visit to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Card blank: 6" x 4" white silk
Dies: Presscut 'Merry Christmas' and Creative Dies 'Nesting Stars' (magazine freebie)
Other; Wink of Stella
Snippets: Lime green, turquoise and white card

I layered white card onto turquoise and green card before attaching it to the card blank.  I die-cut the sentiment from both green and turquoise card and attached the turquoise 'Christmas' onto the green 'Christmas' to create a shadow effect (and putting the 'Merry' back into my snippets drawer for another day!).  This was then attached to the lower corner of the card. I die-cut a large star from both green and turquoise card and a small star from turquiose and white card.   The turquoise/white star was attached to the card above the sentiment, and the green/turquoise star was attached on the lower edge with foam tape.  To finish, I used a Wink of Stella in the middle of the stars.
