This month my questions are about ink and, of course, there is another Giveaway. There are so many different types of ink on the market and I'm sure everyone has their favourite for different uses. Here are a few questions to start you off:
- What types of ink do you use?
- Do you have a favourite brand?
- What is your favourite ink for stamping?
- What is your favourite ink for heat embossing ?
- What is your favourite ink for using with stencils?
- What is your favourite ink for using with different colouring mediums - alcohol pens, coloured pencils?
- Please feel free to add any other comments or advice you would like to share.
All comments will be entered for the giveaway, unless you specifically say that you don't want to be included. This month I'm giving away two Clearly Besotted mini stamp sets - 'Bye Bye Butterfly' and Elegant Butterflies'.

ReplyDelete- What types of ink do you use?
Anything I can get my hands on! I still have a few pads from when I first started stamping 25 years ago and bought a bundle of Encore Metallic pads, although nowadays I tend to get metallic effects through embossing. I have several different colours each of pigment, dye and embossing inks and an old, much loved collection of Kaleidacolor pads.
- Do you have a favourite brand?
Versafine, Memento, Ranger and Tonic
- What is your favourite ink for stamping?
Versamark or black Versafine for embossing, black Versafine for non embossed images I want to colour with a water based medium, black Memento for images I want to colour with alcohol markers
- What is your favourite ink for heat embossing ?
Versamark
- What is your favourite ink for using with stencils?
Distress inks/Distress Oxides
- What is your favourite ink for using with different colouring mediums - alcohol pens, coloured pencils?
I only ever use Memento with alcohol pens, every other ink seems to smudge with them. I use it most of the time I'm colouring with pencils too, but if the pencils I'm using are watercolour ones I use Versafine.
Ah, the perennial "which ink is best" question! I can't resist some answers here (the stamps are lovely but I really, really don't need more stamps so leave me out of the draw so others have more chance!).
ReplyDelete- What types of ink do you use?
Most used are Versafine, Distress (and Oxides) and Brilliance. I also use Adirondack dye ink, Memento (and Luxe), Clearsnap Chalk ink, Hero Arts and others I can't recall at the moment and am too lazy to cross the house to my craft space!
- Do you have a favourite brand?
I guess Tsukineko and Ranger.
- What is your favourite ink for stamping?
Depends what I'm doing! Versafine gives fabulous opaque coverage so sentiments are often Versafine if I have the colour I want. Images that will be coloured with Copics are usually Brilliance or Adirondack dye ink (Brilliance given a quick blast with the heat gun before colouring if necessary). No-line colouring calls for a light coloured dye ink (often Distress Antique Linen, sometimes Adirondack dye ink Willow), images to be coloured with a water-based medium or pencils usually Versafine or Brilliance.
- What is your favourite ink for heat embossing ?
Versamark or Brilliance/Versafine if I want a colour with clear EP over it.
- What is your favourite ink for using with stencils?
Distress or Oxides.
- What is your favourite ink for using with different colouring mediums - alcohol pens, coloured pencils?
See "favourite ink for stamping"!
For outline images and sentiments, I use Memento or VersaFine most often, depending on what I plan to use for coloring in the images.
ReplyDeleteI like Distress Oxides for backgrounds and sponging.
For stamping solid images, I am loving the Catherine Pooler inks, and I've just recently bought a VersaFine Clair to try. Since I only have the Clair pad in black, I have just used it on silhouette type images so far, and it gives great coverage! I want to try some of the other colors too!
For heat embossing, I use Versamark.
For stencils, Distress Oxide. I like the way they blend.
For alcohol ink coloring, I use Memento. For water based markers (Zigs, Tombows, etc) I use VersaFine.
Who doesn't like answering questions about crafting? I could talk about crafting all day long! Here are my answers:
ReplyDelete1. What types of ink do you use? I use inks for stamping and for blending or watercolour backgrounds.
2. Do you have a favourite brand? Favourite black for stamping sentiments or outline images to be used with water-based markers or coloured pencils would be Versafine Onyx Black; favourite black for outline images that will be coloured with alcohol markers would be Lawn Fawn Jet Black or Memento Tuxedo Black. For stamping with coloured inks I like Memento, Ranger Archival, Lawn Fawn, and Your Next Stamp. For ink blending, watercolour backgrounds, or stencils, I love Distress Ink and Distress Oxides.
3. What is your favourite ink for stamping? listed above in #2
4. What is your favourite ink for heat embossing ? Versamark
5. What is your favourite ink for using with stencils? Distress Ink and Distress Oxides
6. What is your favourite ink for using with different colouring mediums - alcohol pens, coloured pencils? listed above in #2
Hope this helps! Thanks for asking the questions and thanks for the awesome giveaway!
Hi Kath. Here are my answers:
ReplyDelete1. I use Memento the most and also have Versafine black and a few Encore Metallics. I also have a few Stampin Up inks but they very rarely get used.
2. Memento. If I try an inked background it would be Ranger Distress Inks/Oxides.
3. Memento when I'm colouring with alcohol markers.
4. For heat embossing - Versamark every time.
5. Stencils - Distress Inks/Oxides or occasionally Stampin Up depending on the colour I need.
6. Definitely Memento for alcohol markers and Versafine if I use Zig Clean colour brush pens.
Thank you for the chance to win x
What types of inks do I use?
ReplyDeleteMainly DI's for watercolouring and Versafine for more detailed work including sentiments.
Do You Have a Favourite Brand?
Yes, DI's and Versamark as mentioned above.
What is Your Favourite ink or Stamping?
I do use Archival Black and various Versafine colours, and at times I do also stamp with the DI's.
What is Your Favourite Ink for Embossing?
I mostly use the Versafine, but I do use the DI's with clear embossing over the top too.
What is Your Favourite Ink to Use With Stencils?
Again DI's
What is Your Favourite Ink for using with Different Colouring Mediums?
I don't use alcohol pens very often but I think that Memento is best with them although if inks are sealed with clear embossing any of the others would probably work fine. The rule usually is if you are using alcohol based products then a water based ink is best and if you are using water based then a pigment/permanent ink is best, in other words the opposite to whatever medium you are using. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for the lovely prize you are offering Kath. x
- What types of ink do you use?

I have swatches for all the ink colours I own, which is a huge help! Easy to make - one swatch for each type/brand of ink and so easy to flick through to find a close match to the colour you're seeking.
LOVE this idea Kath - well done for thinking of it!
Hugs
