Monochrome Reindeer

Another Christmas card using lots more snippets - although my snippets box doesn't seem to be getting any smaller!

I trimmed a piece of white card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank, rounded the corners and die cut a stitched circle from the centre.  I attached the wood effect card behind the aperture and attached the panel to the card.  I die cut three reindeers from dark brown pearlescent card and the swirl and bow from a lighter brown card.  I layered the three bodies, cutting the back leg of the bottom layer so it would lie flat across the card, before attaching it.  I layered the antlers and attached them.  The light brown swirl was inlaid into the reindeer body and the bow attached to his neck.  To finish I added three small brown snowflakes around the reindeer.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
Creative Dies 'Elegant Reindeer' and My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics' dies
Kanban 'Cosy Christmas' wood effect card
Snippets of dark brown and light brown pearlescent card

Cross Stitch Teddy in Chimney Pot

A friend sent me this cute Mouseloft 'Teddy in Chimney Pot' cross stitch kit as a gift.   After stitching the design I made a frame from a piece of Lili of the Valley paper and mounted the stitching before attaching it to the card.

Floral Patchwork Quilt

I was fortunate to win a gift voucher from Seven Hills Crafts as part of the Less is More 10th Birthday Celebrations.  After looking at my 'Wish List' I chose a Quilt Die I had first seen on Liz's Blog' and used it to make this snippets card.   As I've kept all the small pieces I've not used to make this card I'll be making another card with all the tiny snippets made from snippets.

I die cut the frame from dark purple pearlescent card and attached it to the front of the card blank. I attached the snippets of paper to a piece of white paper and then die cut the quilt.  I inlaid the yellow and white floral paper in the centre of the quilt and the darker pink paper around the edges.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
My Favorite Things 'Quilt Square Cover Up' die
Snippets of Wild Rose Studio 'Annabelle's Garden' and 'Annabelle's Meadow' papers and dark purple pearlescent card

March Rudolph Day

It's time for the third Rudolph Day of the year and another upcycled card.  I didn't receive this lovely card - I came across it in our communal recycling bin and thought it would be perfect for upcyling as it's such a good quality card and the sky background is even more beautiful than in the photograph.  I feel like I've cheated with this one as it was a very simple make.

To make this super quick card I trimmed around the front of the card as it was much larger than the front of my card blank, layered it onto gold mirri card and attached it to the card front.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
     Upcycled Christmas card
     Snippet of gold mirri card

Vintage Boy Birthday

I made this card for my father-in-law's birthday using one of my few remaining Lili of the Valley 'Vintage Boys' Art Pad images.

I die cut the precoloured image with a rectangle die, die cutting from both ends so I could elongate the shape.  I then die cut 'DAD' from the lower corner and set the pieces aside.  I trimmed a piece of wood effect paper so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and attached it to a thin piece of white card.  I then die cut an elongated rectangle from the centre, ensuring it was the same size as my topper.  I attached the frame to the card and inlaid the image.  I die cut 'DAD' twice from white card, layered these before inlaying them into the image and attaching the coloured sentiment on the top.

To make this card I used:
     7" x 5" white matt card blank
Lili of the Valley 'Vintage Boys' Art Pad image
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics' and Creative Expressions 'From the Heart - Male Relations' dies
Papermania 'Capsule Elements - Wood' paper
     Snippets of white matt card

Follow Your Heart Cross Stitch Notebook

This cross stitch design was a magazine cover kit designed by Emma Congdon.  The finished piece should have been mounted in a plastic frame but I chose to use it to decorate the front of a notebook for a gift.

After completing the stitching I trimmed around the fabric and frayed the edging before ironing a piece of thin interfacing onto the rear.  The cross stitch panel was layered onto a snippet of pink card and attached to the front of the notebook.

Vintage Artisty Birthday

I've recently been given a new 49 and Market paper pad - I've not seen them before but the designs are lovely and the thickness is more like card than paper.  I one of the sheets to make this birthday card.

I trimmed a piece of paper so it was slightly smaller than the card blank - setting aside the trimmings I had removed.  I die cut 'Happy Birthday' from the upper corner - setting aside the pieces from the die cut.  The panel was then attached to the card.  I die cut 'Happy Birthday' twice from white card.  I inlaid one sentiment into the front of the card, together with the pink pieces I had set aside.  I layered the second white sentiment with the pink one on top and then attached them to the card.  To finish I die cut three small butterflies from the strip of card I had set aside and attached them around the sentiment.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
49th and Market -Vintage Artistry in Blush' paper
Crafts-Too 'Happy Birthday' and Tattered Lace 'Mini Butterflies' dies
     Snippets of white card

Twofer Squares

I made these cards for the Twofer Challenge - this month there is a 'Free Choice' so I have chosen a small Lawn Fawn stitched square die to make a birthday card and a Christmas card.

Twofer One - Happy Birthday

I attached small snippets of green, purple, turquoise and yellow star patterned paper to a piece of thin paper to give them a bit more strength for die cutting.  I then die cut four small stitched squares from each colour.  I attached the squares to a piece of white card using wet glue to give some 'wriggle room' and line up the squares.  Once the panel had dried I trimmed around the edge and attached it to the centre of the card.  I then die cut 'Happy Birthday' from white card and attached it to the upper corner of the patchwork panel.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables' and  Crafts-Too 'Happy Birthday' dies
Snippets of Lili of the Valley 'Galaxy Stars' paper and white matt card

I am entering the following challenges:

Twofer Two - Christmas

I die cut the small stitched square from kraft card and attached it to the card blank.  I die cut the three different sizes of poinsettia leaves from dark red textured card, layered them and attached them to the kraft square. I die cut six small berries from kraft card and attached to the centre of the poinsettia.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stackables', All-Occasion Dies 'Small Poinsettia' and Memory Box 'Mini Holly Leaves' dies
Snippets of kraft card and dark red textured card

Big Present

I made this card for one of my great nephews for his forthcoming birthday.

I attached a snippet of wood grain paper to a piece of white paper (this made it the same thickness as the topper) before trimming it so it was slightly smaller than the card blank.  I die cut a stitched square from the centre and attached the frame to the card.  I then die cut the precoloured topper and inlaid it into the frame.  To finish I used a fine pen to write 'Jamie' on the label.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
Lili of the Valley 'Big Present' Mini Masterpiece image
Lawn Fawn 'Outside In Stitched Square Stacklables' die
     Docrafts Papermania 'Wood' paper
     Sakura Pigma Micron Pen

Cross Stitch Daisy

This daisy card was made with another magazine cover gift and I thought it would make a pretty spring notecard.

After completing the cross stitch I die cut a purple frame which matches the backstitch outline on the daisy.  The stitching was adhered to the back of the frame before being attached to the card.

Love Heart

I made this card for the latest challenge at AAA Cards which is 'One Inchie'.  I wanted to have both an image and sentiment on the card, but struggled to find anything small enough to fit within an inch.  This Clearly Besotted heart with 'love' running across it was perfect to fit into the inchie frame.

I used a small die to cut a one inch aperture in the front of the card blank and then embossed around the edge.  I used red ink to stamp the heart onto white card and embossed it with clear embossing powder before cutting it with the coordinating die.  I attached a piece of patterned paper inside the card and then used a foam pad on the back of the heart, placing in the centre of the aperture.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card
Clearly Besotted 'With All Your Heart' stamp and die
     Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares' die
     Kars tan embossing mat
     Versafine Crimson Red ink
     Cosmic Shimmer clear embossing powder
Snippet of Lili of the Valley 'Heartfelt' paper

Sparkling Tile Tree

I made this card for the CAS Christmas Challenge Third Birthday Celebration 'Use Kraft, Red and White'.

To make this quick CAS card I cut the Sparkling Tile Tree from a snippet of kraft card and trimmed 1/8" around the edge of the tree before attaching it to the centre of the card.  I used lots of tiny snippets of red mirri card to die cut the baubles and then inlaid these into the tree.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white hammer card blank
Memory Box 'Sparkling Tile Tree' die
Snippets of kraft card and red mirri card

All of Me

It's our Wedding Anniversary today and this is the card I made for Steve.  It's from a design by Zindagi Designs that I first saw on Jo's blog.

After completing the stitching I attached the fabric behind a red aperture and then a stitched cream aperture before attaching it to the card.

February Card Chain Challenge

I made this card to send to Joanne for the February Card Chain Challenge using the Colour Palette Option (Pewter, Ruby & Lapis) and the Theme Option (Friendship).

I trimmed a piece of red textured card so it was slightly smaller than the front of the card blank and then trimmed a piece of blue textured card slightly smaller than the red panel.  These were then layered and attached to the card.  I cut a piece of white card so it was slightly smaller than the blue panel and stencilled a grey border across the top section.  I die cut 'hello' from the lower corner (setting aside the small pieces from inside the sentiment) before attaching the panel to the card.  I die cut 'hello' from both blue and red card.  I inlaid the blue 'hello' into the card together with the small pieces of white card I had set aside.  The red 'hello' was attached over the top to create a shadow effect.  I die cut three red flowers and three blue flower centres and attached these across the card.

To make this card I used:
     7" x 5" white matt card blank
Altenew 'Hello' and Creative Dies 'Flower' dies
     Funky Fossil 'Stacked Lines' stencil
     Memento Gray Flannel ink
Red and blue textured card and white matt card

Floral Display

I've been asked to make another sympathy card.  I like to keep these cards simple and usually one layer - perfect for the current Less is More challenge.

I used one of my old wooden stamps to make this card which I've now removed from its wooden block so I can use it in my MISTI.  I had left the foam pad behind the floral stamp so I removed the foam mat from my MISTI before stamping and embossing the flowers.  After replacing the foam mat I put the card back into my MISTI to place the sentiment before stamping and embossing it.  I coloured the flowers with pink, lilac and yellow coloured pencils.  The leaves were coloured with green and yellow coloured pencils.  To finish I used a water brush to create the watercolour flowers.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
     Hobby Art 'Floral Display' stamp
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
     Cosmic Shimmer clear embossing powder
     FaberCastell coloured pencils
