Jenigami Tortoise

I wanted to make a 3D item for my Unit One assessment so made this tortoise using a freebie download from Jenigami

I downloaded the tortoise template and printed two copies onto First Edition Spring Feast scrapbooking card.  After cutting out the sections I glued them together to give the tortoise more strength.   I used Diamond Stickles to highlight flowers on the shell and distressed the edge of the tortoise body.  I glued the feet onto the bottom of the body sections and doodled around the edges.   Wobbly eyes were attached to the head before the sections were assembled using the instructions from the download.  Jenigami papercraft items fold flat so I used a co-ordinating scrapbooking card to make a wallet for the finished tortoise.   This was fastened with a brad and ribbon.

Assessor Jackie, gave me a good tip for improving this design and I thought I would share it in case anyone is thinking of making anything similar.   If the outline cutting is a little rough, it is better to distress with ink as this will draw the eye in away from the edge, rather than using a file to expose the core (as I did) as this will draw the eye to the edge.  I hope this helps!

Mum's Birthday Card

I love the HOTP papers from Simply Cards & Papercraft, so made this card for my mum's birthday.

I covered a C6 pearl card blank with yellow patterned paper then added a strip of coloured paper to the bottom and two small brown strips cut with my Woodware Crafty Edger.  I then rounded the bottom corners with a large corner punch.   I glued the topper to thin card and attached it to the card with foam tape.   The 'You're the best, Mum' sticker was coloured with Promarkers and attached to the shaped topper.  I then cut two more flowers from the papers and attached these to the card front with foam tape.

Wedding Easel Card

I made this card for a friend's wedding and was so pleased with the result - as it was the first easel card I had made - that I made another card to submit for my Unit One assignment.  The idea for using this stamp on an easel card came from Crafty Debs.

I made an easel card from white Moondust card and used Hot of the Press Icy Rainbow paper to cover the inside of the card.   I used the bride and groom and sentiment stamp from Woodware's Getting Married set to stamp the main image and the easel stopper.  These were layered onto purple Moondust card and the image was coloured with Promarkers.   As the Icy Rainbow paper is single sided, I glued two pieces together and when they were dry I punched the large and small daisies and made leaves from a scrap of green paper.   I shaped the flowers and glued a small daisy into a larger one and then added a small pearl to the centre to make the flowers, I then glued leaves to the back of the flowers and attached them to the card front.  A purple heart on the easel and a white heart on the base finished the card.  I then made a box from white Moondust card and stamped the flowers from the same set onto the top of the box and coloured them to match the main image.

As I am going to submit this card for Unit One of the Certificate in Papercraft, I would welcome feedback on my card, please.
